In that year

Weather was exceptionally hot and dry throughout the vegetative phase with the polyphenols (tannins and colour) taking a long time to develop their maturity, especially for the Cabernet Sauvignons, where the plants had suffered considerable stress. At harvest, sugar concentration levels were the highest that had ever been seen before and plants were in perfect health.

Tasting notes

The colour is very deep, dark ruby. The nose is small red fruit (strawberries) which are ripe, even jammy. In the mouth, the wine has an opulence and fleshiness rarely achieved. The balance in the middle palate is perfect, with the finish developing over tightly-knit tannins which are just beginning to mellow.

Serving suggestions

Decant 2 hours before serving. 

Drink before 2013.
