Casas Del Toqui
In the 1990s, teams from Château Larose Trintaudon set off for South America, hoping to find some exceptional terroirs there. In 1994 Château Larose Trintaudon and the Granella family from Chile decided to join forces to produce fine wines.
The name "Casas del Toqui" means the house of the Chilean Indian chief, Los Mapuches.
The vineyard is based in the Cachapoal valley, about 100 kilometres to the south of Santiago, in the foothills of the Andean Cordillera.
These 100 hectares of vines are planted at about 600 metres above sea level, where there is a wide variation between day/night temperatures (as much as 20°C). This ensures that our different varieties will grow robust and healthy.
The following grape varieties are grown:
- Cabernet Sauvignon (50% of the vineyard);
- Chardonnay
- Semillon
- Merlot
- Syrah
- Petit Verdot
- Pinot Noir
At Casas del Toqui we offer 3 single-variety product lines (Varietal, Reservado and Prestige) and our iconic blended wine Leyenda del Toqui.
During the summer, the vineyard is carefully irrigated with water from the river Cachapoal and snow melt from the Andes. These exceptional climatic conditions also have advantages in terms of protecting the vines from disease. This means that we are able to limit the use made of pesticides.
The Casas del Toqui wines combine the winemaking traditions of the Old and New Worlds.
